I just finished wrapping all of the presents and boy am I exhausted! My kids are certainly getting a large haul this year. And while I almost always get everything for a killer deal like we did last Christmas and the one before that, I’m sure there is going to come a time where I just can’t satisfy every request our little ones make. And that is ok. I’m sure there are some of you out there looking at what you got your kids and thinking it just wasn’t enough.
When I was in high school and college I dated a guy who’s parents had a good amount of money. They took me on lavish vacations all over the world and bought amazing gifts for my birthday and Christmas. It was great! On the last Christmas before we broke up, his mom gave me an ornament that I still hang on my tree today. It was a hand-made angel that she made for her first married Christmas. See, they didn’t have money to go and buy expensive decorations so she made them all. They started with nothing and worked hard to get what they have now. It’s an inspiration to look at the way they turned their finances around and were able to splurge whenever they wanted.
When I look at that angel, I see a reminder that money isn’t everything. Happiness is, and just because you can’t have the best of the best doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy what you do have! Money certainly can’t buy happiness!
My wish is on this Christmas Eve is that you are happy, healthy and are enjoying whatever it is you are able to provide for your family! May your holiday be full of magic!
