Gift Card Deals

June 4, 2013

I am a huge fan of gift cards.  Although I think they are a very “easy way out” kind of gift, I love the flexibility they give to get what you really want… or to go to that restaurant that is just not in this month’s budget!  This is especially helpful if your grocery store gives you gas points when you buy gift cards!

For the last few years, I have *tried*… and usually failed… at going to our local grocery story to buy gift cards for the shopping I do or for the restaurants we plan on eating at.  I just am terrible about remembering and when I do it’s usually smack in the middle of the meal.  I’m pretty sure Kevin wouldn’t mind at all if I just got up, hopped in the car and headed to the store to grab a gift card just so we could save $0.10/gallon in gas.  Riiiightttt….

Anyway, today I was planning on heading to the grocery store to grab some Disney gift cards for our upcoming trip and I happened to see on twitter that if you have a Target Redcard you can save 5% on your gift card purchases!  So let me get this straight… I can save money purchasing the gift card and then I can save money on things if I have coupons… that sounds like an incredible deal to me!

Although Target does not have as many options as our grocery store, they still have a nice selection and it does include Disney gift cards!  This means I was able to save $15 on my $300 worth of gift cards.  That sounds like some serious savings to me!  🙂

If you don’t have a Target Red Card I highly recommend you go get one.  Right now.  Do not pass go… but it might save you $200.

And just for the record since most of my money savings posts are about Target… I in no way, shape or form work for Target or get paid to advertise for them (although I would love it if I did!)  I just really love Target and their deals that much that I want everyone to get them too!
